VARRIO CHULA VISTA
VCV Varrio Chula Vista is the original HarborSide Varrio; and all other varrios in CV, came afterwards!
The Harborside Barrio goes from Palomar to L Street, and from 5th to Bay Blvd. In the old days it went all the way west to the Bayfront. VCV also includes the area north and west of Moss, which is called "Boal." VCV was born in the 1000 blocks of these two areas in the late 1950's.
VCV always been a smaller gang compared to their oldest and closest neighbors, Otay and OTNC, but they've always been in the mix and recognized by all around.
VCV got really deep in the 1980's, and used to hang out at the abandoned Duke Tomato plant and junkyard that was on the 1000 block of Colorado. The 1980's saw them expand north into the Navy duplexes between L and J Streets (700 and 800 blocks), and into most of the low income housing along and west of the Broadway corridor. By the late 1990's they began to disappear from their birth grounds in the 1000 blocks and from some of the areas west along Broadway. Policing and redevelopment hit them hard and shrank their numbers down. They got deep again for a while in the early-mid 2000's, but then they died down big time. But yet still again, in the last few years (2010/2011/2012) they have been on the rise again, making a comeback, staking claim and kicking ass.
Here's how the VCV cliques genealogy goes, as it was told to me:
1950s = the first originals from CV gang started out
1960s to early 1970s = CV Locos/CV Boys
1970s = VCV birth of the Grande Locos clique
1980's = Birth of the K Street Boys clique (inactive now)
1990's = Birth of the E Street and H Street cliques (inactive now)
2000's = Birth of the South Bay LS, GST LS, and NBLS cliques
-GSTLS- and -NBLS- where tagbangers that cliqued up with -VCV-
-GSTLS- used to be West Side G Block (WSGBK)
-NBLS- used to be Naughty Boys Klika, A.K.A. Nasty But Klassy (NBK)
There is also a clique of stoners/skaters/taggers that back up VCV.
They go by 700 Block (700BK).
