Varrio LAS PALMAS was an old varrio located in the South San Diego neighborhood of Palm City. The old varrio extended south of the Otay River marshland area, all the way to Coronado Avenue, centered around Palm Avenue and Harris Avenue. The neighborhood once reached as far west to 19 Street (present day Saturn Blvd). The old varrio was in time first broken up with the construction of Interstate 5, which was built right through the middle of the neighborhood and sliced it up into two halves. The western part of the varrio (west of I-5) was almost completely torn down and new development was raised up. Then when the San Diego Trolley line was built, another chunk of its neighborhood was destroyed. The Trolley line itself cut the varrio in half again. On the east side of the tracks new housing now stands. But on the west side of the tracks there still remains plenty of unpaved (dirt) streets even to this day. South of Palm Avenue the grounds there exhibit a mix of older homes and newer apartment buildings south along the back streets from Harris Avenue. Varrio Las Palmas survived all the way up to the very early 80s, but it has now given way to the younger generation of Raza that claims Palm City From Hell (Familia Hispana). In its final days, one could see nice firme big block Old Stilo Placasos on the walls as you rode past on the freeway or the trolley line. Further south along the 19 Street neighborhood, west of the I-5, La Raza gave birth to the Varrio NESTOR 19ST, in what was once inhabited by vatos that claimed South San Diego. From west of the I-5 and south of Palm Avenue, Varrio NSTR (Nestor Nineteenth STreet Rifa) governs the land.

You have to go back in time to remember the vatos that claimed YESCA 13. Back in the mid to late 70s these vatos where claiming ESxNC. They had their spot just north of the ACRE BOYS and west of PARADISE HILLS, over by Lanoitan Avenue. I don't think they're around anymore.

Varrio POSOLE, sometimes spelled Pozole, is a real old varrio that dates back to the 1920s. This varrio is well known and heard about through out Califas and in la torcida. Posole is said to be in their sixth or seventh generation of vatos representing their terreno. From old times the initials for the varrio were PSL and PZL, but in these later tiempos the initials VP, VPL and VPLS for Varrio Posole Locos are being used. The olden varrio is located right before you hit Camp Pendleton, immediately east of Interstate 5 and north of Mission Avenue; just south of the old San Luis Mission Road (present day 76 Expressway), centered around Balderama Park. Their borders today can be said to extend all the way south to Oceanside Blvd, and east all the way to Mesa Road. Posole claims East Side because they are in what back in them times was considered the east side of Oceanside.

But haven't you heard the crickets in CITY HEIGHTS lately? You know, the ones where they are having to depend on tagging crews to pick up the lackluster of the JUNIORS? Sad to say, but another one bites the dust. You, the North Park Locos, and Wicked Klowns should all just pack it in and form one super gang called WHES 13. The WE HATE EAST SIDE 13 gang. Maybe then you can have enough heads to formidably combat East Side. Until then, leave it up to real Varrios like Logan and Conche who can hang with them.

CH JRS has some pretty down vatos. So did the OG City Heights 13 back in the early 90's (but then again, you had to be legit to be banging in Dago in the early 90's).

There still seems to be a lot of confusion on that one. The Chicanos that started Iris Avenue 13 were originally from FCW (I brought up Old Man here..cause I thought he was one of the FCW heads that startd Iris).

I agree with you on the CH response. There are down ass dudes from every set, even shallow or dormant Varrios. There will always be fluctuation in neighborhoods due to a variety of reasons, but at this moment in time, CHJRS are about a carload right now, and that may be due to the prisoner issue. And you are correct. I had a homeboy that was straight up fucked up by the Juniors because they THOUGHT he was from East Side. They straight banged on him and then lit his car on fire. Guess what? He was a civilian. Just because he fell into the profile and was at the wrong place at the wrong time. The Chinese buffet by College avenue around 1999. East Side doesn't have to go across town to bang, when they have so much going on in their own back yard. The Crews like ICK and AN, which are turning gang, or pardon me, have done so, and Logan Clicka boys, and Oak Park, and the Juniors, fuck dude, they always have their plates full. Some homie that I know told me about this webpage, and he brought me up on a post (he embelished a skinhead story about me). I was never a banger, I was a skater/punker, but I used to know homies from all over SD (some of them have been brought up on this blog).
I knew Yogi from IDM back when we went to highschool together. I used to live around the corner from him in CV (and some of the Southeast 13 Lokos). He's the farthest thing from the fuzz. Anyone that knows Yogi (including the homies from the OG SE13LKS, IDM, FCW, Iris 13, etc...) can attest to the fact that he is 100% Homeboy Certified. probably more so than some of the other people that post on here.
There's no need to start calling homeboys out as "undercovers" just because they are well spoken, or that they remind you of some other guy that posted on another website, or because that they have family members that are PD (I know a couple of stand up Logan boys that are related to PD).
And about the fuzz reading up on these pages...I can guarantee that they do, but as long as you do not leave specifics (names, AKA's) they cannot lift anything out of here that can help build a case.

but it was trippy for a while in the 70's. There were all sorts of kids trying to make Shelltown klicks out of the street names (ST Alpha and Shelltoen 40th Street). Mostly it was kids that just claimed VST, but they had high aspirations, and wanted to make there mark. BUT..the only true ST hoods at that time were ST 36Street, ST Delta Boys, and the notorious ST Gamma Boys. All the others ended rolling up into DBS or GBS (cause they didn't get the OK to set up new klicks).
ST 38 Street was comming up around the early 80's (i think).
I don't know if its the same...but ST's # enemy in the 70's was OTNC. The other enemies were Logan and Varrio Market. But with Gamma and OTNC..it was puro 187.

VARRIO POSOLE
Varrio POSOLE, sometimes spelled Pozole, is a real old varrio that dates back to the 1920s. This varrio is well known and heard about through out Califas and in la torcida. Posole is said to be in their sixth or seventh generation of vatos representing their terreno. From old times the initials for the varrio were PSL and PZL, but in these later tiempos the initials VP, VPL and VPLS for Varrio Posole Locos are being used. The olden varrio is located right before you hit Camp Pendleton, immediately east of Interstate 5 and north of Mission Avenue; just south of the old San Luis Mission Road (present day 76 Expressway), centered around Balderama Park. Their borders today can be said to extend all the way south to Oceanside Blvd, and east all the way to Mesa Road. Posole claims East Side because they are in what back in them times was considered the east side of Oceanside.

If I remember right, there was a Chollas View Locos (CVLS) in the 70's, by the Holy Cross cemetary. Everbody would confuse the Chula Vista Locos (CVLS) with them...or visa versa.

There is always debates about the oldest hood in SD County. You have to remember that many barrios go way back here, including NC. Before there was any Peublo Viejo, the homies would just rep "National City" in the late 50's/early 60's
Same thing with Chula Vista. There were homies repping CV back in the late 50's well before VCV came around in the 70's. In fact, the small click from CV would get into beefs with the OTNC Gatos during the late 60's (maybe the first OTNC click?). Sidewalk graffiti in some of the older parts of CV date back to the late 50's).
Otay has been a barrio with a "pachuco/cholo identity" since the 30's, (with Sidro probably being around just as long). Otay as a more modern gang fomed around the early 50's.
Logan, Sherman, and ESD have had a cholo-like identity that goes back at least to the early 50's-maybe even earlier.
I have had family in Logan long before there was RS, 30,and 33, right after the "Los" gangs. And I have had family that claimed National City before there was PV and ES.
They have told me that Logan Heights at the time had a gang that simply ran under "Logan," and homies from Logan would beef with homies from "Sherman" and "National City"...This was in the 60's, before there were Sherman 20's, before there was an OTNC, and before there were hoods calling themselves "East Side Lomita" and "Shelltown."
They remember the hoods back then as being: Logan, Sherman, East San Diego, National City, Otay, and San Ysidro. Chula Vista was not even on the map with Logan and Sherman, since it was a small click that only beefed with National City and Otay.
Shelltown, Imperial Beach, Palm City, Nestor, and Del Sol supposedly did not even have gangs at the time. Las Palmas formed around the late 60's/early 70's, and Shelltown,ESL, and Imperial came around as cholo gangs in the early/mid seventies. Del Sol and Nestor are newer, with history going back to the early 80's (maybe late 70's).
Most of the timelines her might be wrong...who knows...maybe there was an Imperial and Las Palmas in the 60's. I am only familiar with what I have been told by my family.
But there is one thing for sure, OTNC is probably the deepest Chicano hood in SD now.

It started summer of '93 in SAGE and KOMA's backyard, there was a dozen or so heads at that meeting, all from APS, KOMA, SAGE, ABEL, ASKO, FACIL, FUSER, ACHOO, MANNY, ESTO from APS, KAST from IK, his white homeboy LATCH. UF was also part of 93K along with SEK and TMK, started when they were in APS though, originally was APS/SEK/TMK, all used to kick it at the dead end on Boston in Shelltown, or the apartments on 35th and Acacia, the SEK kick back in the alley over by Logan park, or FOAM and REMO's house in Encanto. UF had homies from different hoods but was never affiliated with any one hood, just friends and families. a few months later some heads that lived over in Sherman got down, GEST, DELC, ESKE, IMAGE(RIP) and another dude who I forget, also OAKS brother KENT from NVS got down for UF and KLOVER and EVOL from EV also. Does anyone know any history about the OTAY GANG? From what I heard one of the first generations was around the 60's they called themselves the YATO gang. After awhile they became VARRIO LOCO OTAY or VLO. I heard their main rivals were San Ysidro back in the day. They actually got along with DEL SOL and would link up with them to try to take on bigger varrios like NATIONAL CITY. OTAY was a city south of Chula vista, they didn't have their own police department or high school so they had San Diego Sheriff patrolling and they would send their kids to Chula vista High until Castle Park was built in the 60's. Castle Park was actually built on the border of Chula vista and OTAY to keep all the lower class farm workers from going to CVHS and making them go to Castle Park. The OTAY neighborhood was mostly farms so we have a deep rooted connection with YUMA, Arizona because most of the families were migrant farm workers that would take advantage of the different crop seasons. Alot of those families ended up getting jobs in the post WW2 factories and in construction.
OTAY was annexed into Chula vista in the early 90's. OTAY agreed to allow construction east of the 805 as long as Chula Vista built a new library, a recreation center, and include low income housing in any construction in Otay ranch and eastlake areas.
All the rich people moved East of the 805 letting the west deteriorate. I don't know when VCV started but from what I heard their emergence was recent around the late 90's and 2000's. Before I heard they were just a car Club called the Cyclones.
Now VCV is OTAY'S #1 enemy they fight on a regular basis both trying to control Westside chula vista. OTAY has survived even after being annexed by Chula Vista. You can still go by OTAY PARK and see OTAY written in old English on the back wall, or see the signs coming into the neighborhood that say "Welcome to OTAY"

I can tell you...the vato that said 38 and Gamma Boys have a long standing rivalry is wrong. They beefed when Gamma popped up in the early 80's and had minor beef's in the 80's and early 90's but nothing like a long standing rivalry. Big homie Sherm is one of the OG's that started Gamma Boys.
Chula Vista Bishop Boys...thats going way back to the 80's. White boy and raza stoners off of Bishop Street by Castle Park High. Conolley Boys were off Conolley Circle...stoners with whites and raza in the 80's. Also in that area was Castle Park Mob...A mixed race gang with whites, blacks, islanders, and raza. CP Mob was active in the late 80's and 90's. All were kind of related to each other. But CVBB and C-Boys was sort of like the first generation of CP Mob. Otay Rasta Lokos kicked it with all three...the Rasta Lokos being stoners and all. Plus CP Mob beefed it with VCV. Also back in those days was K Street Mob Bloods in aprtments between third and fourth avenue by Chula High. KST MOB had ties to CP Mob and Lincoln Park Syndo Mob.

OTNC was technically not around at the time but has origins in the early 40's in a gang called National City Mutes and a gang in the 50's called National City Niteowls. They joined together to start the first generation of OTNC.
VCV also was not technically around but has its origins in the 40's in a gang called Chula Vista Midnighters. They started off near Anita Street and Industrial BLVD. In the 60's a new gang called East Chula Vista started up in the original Castle Park neighborhood east of third Avenue. First CV Midnighters and ECV beefed. Because of mutual enemies (Otay, OTNC, white gangs) they joined together in the 70's and formed Varrio Chula Vista Cyclones. United Brothers car club off of Naples and Industrial also ended up joining VCV Cyclones in the 70's.
Of course Logan Heights was in the mix during the zoot suit riot era then with the Logan Height Cherries.
Other varrios around that era include Sidro, Sherman, and Pozole.

This story is so old started when bombing was 1st poppin in SD 1990s the TMK being one of the biggest and most known crews to really set off the bombing scene in SD, beside BSD, you would see them everywhere. but soon after TMK vs RTS bombing it out in a battle, it got ugly got violent, and the hate started, and after a few years krews took sides, RTS = ( RATS ) started calling TMK =(KLOWNS) TMK embraced the name "Klowns" and used it a form of pride bombing pictures of Killer Clowns. And RTS didn't do the same, Guess no one likes the name Rats...next thing you know SouthEast tagging krews loyal to TMK started to click up against ALL the clicks who chilled with RTS ,
So TMK, eventually got too old to continue the funk, so younger generation UFK, NVS, SEK, and SPC, they kept up the drama, they started to beef with RTS, SKA, AEK and lot of other smaller crews who where primarily in East San Diego. RTS used to be a really nice crew with some real artist that would do some dope pieces, but like TMK the older heads bowed out and all that was left was a bunch of toys, posers and just youngster with no skills at all. It was just a bunch of youngsters who clicked up..just like everyone else..I find it funny that NOW easiness call SOUTH EAST CLICKS " klowns" how times change..to think TMK the originators of real Tag Banging in SD and the most up as well...these dudes started this and its crazy,
You sir are correct. Woptown originally had Italian Americans in it along with Chicanos. This was in the 60's/70's. WOP is a slur towards Italians, specifically ones that came into the US "With Out Papers" aka undocumented immigrants. The slur was also derived from the Italian word guappo which has two meanings. Handsome (like in Spanish) and flashy gangster. Hence the name "Wop"town for Little Italy. The Italian Americans embraced the slur and so did their Chicano counterparts. Is that gang still around? Did they get priced out? That used to be a somewhat rough neighborhood way back in the days...now only well-to-dos can afford to live there.
Bishop Boys and Castle Park Mob, huh. In my days there were two mixed gangs (mostly white) in CV called "Street People" and "Tankers." Chula Vista Cyclones molly whopped the Tankers pretty good. From what I remember Otay wasn't a big fan of the Tankers either.
The questions about the infamous Otay gang:
-The first generation goes back to at least the 1940's.
-Their main rivals have always been VCV (called THEE MIDNITERS in the 40's) and Sidro.
-They did get along with Del Sol a long time ago. But they never needed help to take on other gangs. Otay has always been deep.
-Otay and OTNC always had an on/off relationship.
-Otay was never a city. It was an unincorporated community of San Diego County until the city of Chula Vista annexed it in the Mid 1980's.
-There was a connection with Yuma farm workers and WWII factory workers.
-"Otay" had nothing to do with construction east of the 805 because it was already a neighborhood of Chula Vista by the time those developments went in. Even before it was annexed by Chula Vista it was just a community, not a government body with landholdings.
-There are still people with money in west Chula Vista and not all of west Chula Vista is deteriorating. In fact, the west side is becoming revitalized. Some grimey areas have cleaned up a lot.
-VCV started in the 1970's after two gangs called South Chula Vista and East Chula Vista united. The first clicka was called the Cyclones. Then came Grande Locos, and some clickas I just became aware of...Nutty Boys, G Street, South Bay Locos.
-VCV was always Otay's main rival. They don't fight to control west Chula Vista. They have their own neighborhoods.
-Otay will always have an independent identity because the residents in that neighborhood are proud of where they came from.
